UUM ONLINE: July 13, 2017 - Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continued further along on its journey of making its own unique history when it was listed, for the very first time, at the 101-150 placing in the sixth edition of the QS World University Rankings (QSWUR) Top 50 Under 50, which was published today.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, expressed his gratitude and elation at UUM's most recent achievement of making the QSWUR Top 50 Under 50 list.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, securing a place on the list of the world's best universities was a difficult feat because it involved factors that were not easily controlled such as a university’s reputation and the impact of its research. Hence, he said, making it onto the list of universities under the age of 50 was indeed an amazing accomplishment.
"I thank all the members of the UUM collegiate community who have steadfastly demonstrated their commitment to the university's agenda and, in one fell swoop, proven that the UUM Strategic Plan, which has been in effect since 2010, has, indeed, begun to come to fruition now with a rich harvest of successes for the university.
"Each success in the flurry of triumphs achieved thus far is a hard-won milestone that serves to chart the unique history of UUM, and we, as members of the UUM campus community, should feel proud to be a part of this achievement," he said.
He also expressed his hope that the university campus community would continue to strive in the same exemplary vein for the success of the other agendas of the university as there was still much to be done to position UUM on par with other world-renowned universities.
In its first issue of 2012, QSWUR Top 50 Under 50 listed the best universities under 50 years based on the then current results published by QS World University Rankings.
