SBM ONLINE : The School of Business Management (SBM) has organized the 1st SBM Industrial Talk 2018 on 11th of March, 2018 which was held at SBM’s Kedah Room. The talk was delivered by Mr. Azli Mohamed, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) from Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) who is also one of the UUM alumni, graduated in BBA (Finance) in 2000. During the talk, he shared with the participants his career development and learning experiences. As the CSO to MAHB, he is responsible for the strategic and innovative execution of the business-side for the aviation-related units and the overall group-level activities with the focus of driving efficiency, organic and inorganic growth, digitization roll-out and maximizing company’s bottom line.

Mr. Azli affirmed that in today’s highly competitive environment, the goal of each organization is to remain competitive and win new customers. Graduates must acquire as much knowledge and skills possible to represent and participate in the generation of innovations. Their personal creativity, knowledge, skills and abilities are possible to generate new innovative ideas that will lead organizations to achieve the competitive advantages needed in the millennial environment. It is believed that to remain competitive and agile in the business market, companies should emphasize on three key attainable factors, which are innovation, continuous improvement and sustainability.

The knowledge sharing session, which was joined by a number of staff and students, was one of the remarkable events and was very encouraging. At the end of session, Dr. Khairol Anuar Ishak, Deputy Dean of SBM, presented a token of appreciation and expressed thanks to Mr. Azli Mohamed for sharing his vast experience in various prominent international and local companies in Malaysia. 


On the 11th and 12th of December 2017, School of Business Management (SBM) organized its 1st Research, Innovation and Commercialization Exhibition (RICE 2017). The exhibition which had 107 group participants provided opportunity to all SBM students to showcase and share their knowledge, creativity and innovation through presentation of different ideas, products and services.
During the opening speech, the Dean of SBM, Prof Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah emphasized that the exhibition is in line with the transformation agenda of the school which intends to ensure that the students take up challenges of starting and doing their businesses while they are still running their programs as this would prepare them to face the real business world after graduation. In his opening address, the Dean also admonished the students to be courageous, and have the right attitude as this would determine their altitude.
The exhibition was witnessed by different invited Assessors from industries and faculty members of SBM. The contesters at the event were awarded different medals which include bronze, silver, and gold. The medals were based on the four categories of the exhibition which include stage, product and service, poster, and video presentation.  The best project in each category as stated in the table below got gold medal with RM300.00 as the overall champion of the exhibition, Dayang Almahera Ishak, got a trophy along other prizes.

The event which was brought to a closing by the Dean, his deputy, Prof. Madya Fais bin Ahmad, and witnessed by other invited guests and faculty members was an eye opener and inspiration for all the students’ participants and their lecturers accordingly. The Dean in his closing note, further challenged the students to be upright and see this as a clarion call that will spur them to take further actions that will positively contribute to their growth and to the economy of the country as a whole.


On 17th of October, 2017, SBM once again had successfully organized the 3rd session of the 2nd SBM Postgraduate Talk Series 2017 which took place at the Kedah Meeting Room (SBM). The talk titled Synthesizing Literature as Simple as ABC was delivered by Associate Prof. Dr. Husna Bt. Johari, a senior lecturer from the Human Resource Department of SBM. The session was attended by more than 80 participants which include staff and postgraduate students from the various schools in UUM.

During the session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Husna highlighted on the importance of effective management and organization of materials to simplify the process of  synthesizing literature. She added that synthesizing literature is a continuous effort throughout the research journey and further emphasized on a structured process of synthesizing literature and research articles which will assist researchers.

The interactive session was very well accepted and acknowledged by the participants who obviously have greatly benefited from the discussion with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Husna. The participants expressed their appreciation to SBM for organizing such interactive sessions and also the speaker for sharing her valuable insights.


Pusat Pengajian Pengurusan Perniagaan (SBM) telah mengadakan majlis bacaan Yaasin dan Tazkirah Syawal pada 19 Julai 2017 bersamaan 25 Syawal 1438H. Majlis ini telah dipimpin oleh Al Fadzil Ustaz Dr. Mohd. Nizho Abdul Rahman, Pensyarah Kanan Pusat Pengajian Bahasa, Tamadun dan Falsafah, UUM CAS.

Antara isi kandungan tazkirah adalah peringatan terhadap kita semua tentang perlunya kita berazam untuk meneruskan amal ibadah serta kebajikan yang dilakukan sepanjang Ramadan di bulan Syawal serta hari-hari seterusnya. Bersama kita berdoa semoga Allah SWT menerima dan menilai semua amalan kita sebagai amalan yang boleh dipetik hasilnya di hari akhirat nanti. Betapa pentingnya untuk kita menjauhi daripada perkara sia-sia dalam kehidupan hari ini. Antara sifat orang beriman adalah sanggup meninggalkan perbuatan yang sia-sia semata-mata mengharap redha Allah SWT. Isilah kehidupan kita sebaik mungkin dengan niat yang ikhlas dan cara yang telah ditunjukkan oleh Ar Rasul serta alim ulama yang muktabar.

Majlis silaturrahim Aidilfitri SBM diteruskan sejurus selepas majlis bacaan yaasin serta tazkirah. Majlis ini telah dihadiri oleh Yang Berbahagia Prof. Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, Naib Canselor UUM, Yang Berusaha Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, Dekan SBM, Timbalan Dekan, Ketua-ketua Jabatan, staf akademik dan staf pentadbiran SBM.  Majlis dimulakan pada jam 12.30 tengahari dengan pelbagai juadah yang disediakan untuk staf serta pengunjung antaranya kambing golek, ketupat dan rendang, mee goreng mamak, nasi berlauk, ais krim serta pelbagai kuih dan buah-buahan.


The SBM Intellectual Discourse Series this July featured the importance of simulation in business education. The discourse series titled ‘The Use of Simulations in the School of Business Management: Opportunities, Challenges and Outcome for Entrepreneurship Education’ was presented by Prof. Dr. Mohd Noor Mohd Shariff.

The idea behind the intellectual sharing session by SBM’s Professors was mooted by the Dean of SBM, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah who believes that SBM’s wide range of talent should be capitalised on. He believes in that the concept of sharing is a noble intention which helps to educate a wider community. Presently, SBM has eight (8) Professors in Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Human Resource.

In the sharing session, Prof. Dr. Mohd Noor Mohd Shariff stressed the importance of using simulation during teaching and learning. He also highlighted how this simulation and experiential learning can help students to gain first-hand knowledge which are not available in textbooks. Thus, simulation based education is going to change how knowledge is created, delivered and absorbed at higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in the country.    

The session was attended by the Chairman of SBM’s Professorial Committee Professor Dr. Rushami Zien Yusoff, Marketing Department Head of Department Associate Professor Dr.Hasnizam Shaari, SBM faculty members, SBM administrative staffs and postgraduate students.


Pusat Pengajian Pengurusan Perniagaan (SBM) telah mengadakan majlis bacaan Yasin dan Tazkirah Ramadan pada 4 Jun 2017. Majlis ini telah dipimpin oleh Al Fadzil Ustaz Dr. Ahmad Bashir @ Zolmat bin Aziz, Pensyarah Kanan IBS.

Majlis ini telah dihadiri oleh Yang Berusaha Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman bin Abdullah Dekan SBM, Timbalan Dekan, Ketua-ketua Jabatan, staf akademik dan staf pentadbiran SBM.  Dalam tazkirah tersebut, Yang Berusaha Al Fadzil Ustaz Dr. Ahmad Bashir @ Zolmat bin Aziz menyarankan agar semua kita merebut peluang menambah pahala di dalam bulan yang mulia ini.

Di dalam majlis tersebut juga, Dekan SBM, Prof. Dr Haim Hilman bin Abdullah telah melancarkan satu Tabung 3 Dalam 1 “SBM Bersamamu”. Tabung Pertama adalah Tabung “Hapuskan Air Matamu Sahabatku”. Tabung ini bertujuan untuk mengumpul dana bagi membantu golongan-golongan yang memerlukan untuk meringankan bebanan hidup harian mereka. Tabung Kedua adalah Tabung Iftar UUM. Tabung ini bertujuan mengumpul dana bagi membantu pihak Masjid Sultanah Bahiyah UUM, dalam menganjurkan Majlis Iftar. Tabung Ketiga ialah Tabung “SBM Prihatin” yang bertujuan untuk memberi sumbangan kepada salah seorang ibu pelajar SBM yang akan menjalani pembedahan jantung dalam masa terdekat.

Dalam ucapan pelancaran tabung-tabung tersebut, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman bin Abdullah berharap sumbangan-sumbangan yang dihulurkan ini dapat memberi manafaat kepada penerima-penerima yang terlibat. Beliau juga berharap semua pihak tampil memberi sokongan dan sumbangan dalam usaha SBM mengumpul dana-dana melalui tabung-tabung ini.
